For those looking for a definitive and classic manual on the technical side of writing with rules of usage in literature, grammar, and composition, I highly suggest looking into The Elements of Style (William Strunk). By the way, Strunk was a professor to E.B. White (Charlotte's Web) who later edited and updated the "little book."
